The COVID-19 period has clouded the future of the upcoming summer transfer window with tons of uncertainty. Will players lose value as clubs lose funds? Will players remain at their clubs if the entire season is nulled and voided?
Regardless, thanks to Sky Sports Transfer Centre’s daily updates, here are a few outlandish rumors you might have missed (or would have never imagined entirely).

David Silva to AC Milan (or Inter Miami)
David Silva has stated that he will not return to the Etihad next season. The 34-year old probably won’t be able to maintain a world-class level for the foreseeable future, so is seeking lighter and greener pastures for himself. Inter Miami makes sense; David Beckham has stated his interest in Silva (amongst Griezmann and Suarez) as his future key Designated Player (weird MLS rule). Silva would run riot in the MLS if Miami attack the league correctly, and can find a balance between Pizarro’s and Silva’s play styles.
However, Milan have apparently entered talks with Silva and his agent in the past few days. Why? Who knows. Milan’s spending behavior has been spineless, as they have incessantly looked to add talent of all ages to their squad. Silva probably doesn’t make sense for them, but I see it happening if he doesn’t want to go to the MLS yet.
Layvin Kurzawa to Barcelona
This is a weird one. Sure, Jordi Alba is 31. That being said, he’s still a top-5 left-back in the world, and Junior Firpo looks promising, AND right-back Emerson (returning from loan at Betis) can also plug in at left-back. I don’t think left-back should be Barcelona’s main area of concern.
Now, ALL OF THIS BEING SAID, is Layvin Kurzawa is probably not the answer. This feels like another Bartolomeu emergency transfer, similar to those of Antoine Greizmann, Arturo Vidal. and Paulinho. It probably isn’t that big of a hit in the ttrasnfer budget, but be smart Barça…
Billy Gilmour to Manchester City
Pep Guardiola is said to be “infatuated” with Gilmour, as the 18-year-old Scotsman has come onto the scene for Cheslea with some dazzling midfield performances. This headline is classic for City, who look to poach expensive, young talent wherever and whenever they can.
I’m not buying this one. Lampard and Chelsea will do whatever they can to hold on to Gilmour. If Pep ever ends up with Gilmour in his squad, it won’t be anytime soon.
N’golo Kanté to leave Chelsea
90min.com have reported that Chelsea are willing to sell Kanté for the right price this summer. What a load of shite. If they were to sell him, the “right price” would be over 100 million pounds, so not many clubs will be able to go after him.
Regardless of the price, why would Chelsea want to get rid of him? He’s been the dubbed the best player in the league in the past, and still has many miles left in the tank. He’s arguably the best DM on the planet, and Chelsea should feel more than fortunate to have the World Cup winner in their squad.
Even if this rumor is true, it won’t happen this summer.
